Dear DSC families,
As you are all aware, our Head Coach Tim will be leaving us this summer to pursue his next adventure stateside. Tim’s last day as head coach will be 31st August. We will doing a formal presentation at the Alumni splash on 23 September, but if anyone would like to come down to the centre on 31st August to say goodbye then please do!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tim for his years of dedication to Dunstable Swimming Club. Tim does far more than coach poolside and without his help and support the club would not be where we are now!
Tim led the club through the 3 year Dunstable refurb to then be sent straight down into lockdown! Our famous virtual platform during the pandemic was down to Tim’s vision and hard work to ensure our swimmers remained engaged and healthy.
It has been a real pleasure to have worked with Tim over my last 7 years on the Committee and my days will certainly not be the same without numerous conversations with Tim on Whatsapp or his number on speed dial!
We will all miss Tim and wish him all the best in his next adventure! Mooove Up!!!
This moves me on to the announcement you have been waiting for. We have successfully completed a recruitment campaign for a replacement Head Coach and were very lucky to have had a number of applicants. I can now share with you that our new Head Coach from 1st September will be Doug Hose. Many of you know Doug from his years of coaching and officiating at DSC. Doug has been part of DSC for 15 years in a number of roles, such as Assistant Head Coach, official and Chairman. Doug moved away from the club last year to take up a Head Coach role at another club and his experience and connections with both clubs will be a huge benefit to DSC swimmers. I know you will all welcome Doug back to the Club as our new Head Coach with open arms.
Ellie King will continue as our Assistant Head Coach and will be responsible for our junior squads across the club. Jodie Armstrong and Chris Grice will complete the senior coaching team working alongside Doug and Ellie.
We are incredibly lucky to have so many experienced coaches that will complete our 2023/2024 coaching team; Manda Hackett, Emma Makin, Steve Kerr, Ian Hobdell, Tracey Foster, Michelle Neal, Simon Murray, Jo Hearn, Kletos Pantazi, Vicky Geary, Gemma Palmer and Bryony Mathias.
Thank you to everyone for your support in 2022/2023 and we look forward to the new season!
